There was a nod.

Samantha did not believe the woman fully understood what Samantha had been saying. Either that, or she didn't understand what she was saying *herself*. After all, if they were truly so similar, the woman would be one with Autumn; and wouldn't wear such a strong mantle of Winter; whose courtiers only ever hid from their own fears. But who was she, to pick a fight at a party? Such things were not meant to be done by the likes of her. Of course, there were ways of showing disagreement without actually showing disagreement in a manner too rude for public consumption.

The look of approval had returned to its normal state of indifference as the questions started. She considered the question before any answer.

"You want to know what I have faced? My past, little one. I have walked through the blizzard, seen what lies beyond it. The blizzard is still coming, and I prepare for the end that has been coming since my death, years ago. Soon the eye of the storm will be here."

She shrugged.

"Is it the same as autumn? Perhaps not, but it Is something I can relate to. Do you stand still and face everything? Are you free of all fears now?"

As she peeked beyond the veil of the girls indifferent face, Samantha would see a surprising sight. A woman, perhaps a few years older than the woman, with bright red hair and green eyes. A relation of some sort..a sister. The sister looked up, and her eyes grew wide in horror upon seeing something.

Then it would hit Samantha; the woman was the fear. Fear of being discovered by family left behind. The shame of her change to becoming what she is now, and the horror and rejection from the family left behind.

"It's not exactly my kinda party. Too many folks." Gray spits out the now bare fish bone and begins twisted a crawdad to suck out the head. "And there's something that's got a chill on my spine. Some long time guests ain't here, and it seems that's 'spicuous."

"Yes..." the word lingered in the air for a moment, as if frozen there. "I overheard..." the almost deer-like eyes glanced around, as if looking for predators, before Dily continued to speak in her calm manner. "... that Baton Rouge tried to convince them not to come. It is a mystery why."

It was a delectable fear; or would have been if she could've taste it the way she tasted the fears of others. But it was a very humanizing fear nonetheless. The kind which might melt the image of an ice queen, to reveal what was hidden by that armor of frost they used to separate themselves from the world.

One might swear some of the few still-not-undone stitches that once held her mouth shut, strained against the growing smile her mouth was twisting into. It didn't quite turn into a grin; and on anyone else it might've still seemed little more than the lightest of such expressions; but it was certainly noticeable to Eliza; whose fear was... changing.

"Those in de Autumn Court," Samantha said, and something about that word might make winter's heartbeat skip, "we are never free of de fear. No one is, Belle. We just... make it our own, oui?"

For the moment it was not her sister finding out that was Eliza's greatest fear. No.

It was the Autumn Court.

The Autumn Court whose courtiers were all around... in the season within which they reigned.

The Autumn King arrived wearing a crown of burnt twigs the tips glowing with red embers. His long cloak is of ashen gray and his cheeks are dabbed with ash. His clothes smell of smoke and burnt wood, the suit crudely stitched together of burnt pages on the cloth… he sings a dirge of loss as he approached his place of honor behind him a trio of courtiers singing the dirge as well.

He turned dramatically and addressed the party, “Don’t cry for me… Minuit. Alas, my dearest Biblos has suffered a near mortal wound but I shall nurse her back to health even if the cold winds of Winter seek to burn away the light that shines within the jack-o-lanterns that signal the rise of my season.”

“Shed no tears for the words lost in the hungry flames, shed no tears for what I have lost… but think of those whose livelihood depends on my doors staying open! To that end we have started a gofundme, and I implore you to give what you can for the good of the Freehold.”

“Now drink and be merry and try to put this untimely near demise of my beloved out of your minds, it will weigh my heavy shoulders but you should be free of such burdens,” he said wearily as he took a seat as King.

The young brewer was good and rightly drunk, and had a serious case of the giggles. Her cheeks were rosy, eyes were bleary, her metal/oilslick fingers were glinting in the evening lights as she held her cup, and she was exceedingly comfortable in her chair.

Finishing up with the BBQ he tossed his trash away and grabbed a drink. He scanned the gathering a bit and saw Mina sitting there with a drunken glaze over her eyes, not an unusual circumstance for the changeling from what Craig knew.

He approached the much smaller ling a bit of mirth in his deep voice while his muscular frame towered over her a bit "Mina, hows it going tonight?"

Her inebriated gaze lazily tracked the Autumn King as he entered, and she listened to his lamentation, pouting. The fire this morning had been something, but--!

"Walker! Look guys, it's my bestest friend! Walker, come; sit and be merry! Care for a drink?!" She giggled fruitfully, and offered the large man her cup - then spotting the fact he already had a drink in his hand, she reached out and knocked it from his grasp, spilling the contents of the subpar beverage onto the floor, before thrusting hers at him again. "This one's better."

Craig rolled his eyes and took a deep breath at Mina's behavior before becoming all smiles again. She was a bit of a handful, especially when drunk, but she was good people. It also didnt hurt that she was easy on the eyes.

Craig accepted the new drink with a more restrained smile than he had been wearing he placed a massive palm on her slender in comparison shoulder and chuckled patting it gently as he sat "Well who am I to argue with the opinion of an expert."
