"Option one is to poke the person who caused a fire at their own bookstore. Not ideal. Option two is a goblin. Not ideal. Option three is a crazy woman."

There was a thoughtful pause as the food arrived. Good timing it seemed.

"I'll see what I can discover. I have an order in my mind of who and how to approach. You mentioned braving the bayou, I'm not knowledgeable on the area yet. Why braving?"

“It’s the outdoors… they say there are gators, mud… just all horrible things that I don’t care for. Old Mama Genny lives away from people and there is no road to follow so if you feel like talking to her, good luck,” she said as she took a picture of her food and prepared an IG post on the subject.

"I'll take your advice on board" Eliza nodded, not sounding like she had but it was difficult to tell. She made a mental note to investigate there anyway, but to be careful as she bit into her boring looking sandwiches. Chewing and swallowing before speaking again.

"I can prepare an appearance to approach the Autumn King, but anything you can offer as advice on how to handle him would be welcome."

“Bring him a peace offering, he’s a writer and lover of the arts… he’ll probably hold a grudge but allow him a chance to make a dramatic scene and he can get it out of his system. The more emotional you make the scene the better I find, he’s the kind of queen that loves an audience,” she said as she ate her food.

“He tries to be fancy but he loves cheap box wine.”

Treat him like a typical queen then.

There was a few nods. She would need to look into some kind of rare novel that might be worth caring about, then let him throw a celebrity style strop. Easy enough to do.

"I'll procure a rarer novel then, and some wine. I know what persona would be required, simple enough to do. The goblin....is a goblin. Nothing unusual I can only assume."

She finished off her sandwich, letting the queen eat in silence unless she was the type to talk at people, which Eliza suspected she might be. Then she looked up at the man standing there.

"You're a quiet one" she commented in a matter-of-fact tone.

Mr. Numbers focused his eyes on her, his ear perked as his canine features broadened into a facsimile of a smile, “Quiet, five letters to denote silence, three vowels and four consonants.”

There was a tilt of the head at that. She didn't like dogs at the best of times, but confusing dogs were up there with goblins.

"Not a conversationalist then. Understood. Anything to add to the already tabled comments?"

"Old Mama Genny enjoys the Rule of Threes," he responded.

"Assuming that is not a set pattern of what she likes, I will have to play her game. Once I've located where she is of course" there was a nod, and she motioned to her frozen water "you can have something to drink if you want."
