Samantha wasn't thankful for the mirrors not reflecting her face, not at all. That actually complicated things, just a little. But everyone being downstairs meant she could drop the contract without issue; which she did so that the mirror would reflect her face. She also traced her finger on its surface. Normally she might be inclined to snoop around a little, but Marie didn't deserve to have her privacy invaded like that, and there wasn't likely to be anything of real interest found anyway. Not in her room, at least.

She tried to remember if there had been any of those whirring machines in the hallway. It was probably safe to just assume there was. It was probably also safe to say that Marie's room was dark without her in it. And if it was not, well, there was always the lightswitch. Samantha would stand still there, in the dark, for about a minute. Re-invoking the contract with the loophole so that she would not have to spend any of that precious Glamour. And then she would depart from the room, heading toward the master bedroom. To repeat the process there.

There was indeed a whirring machine in the hallway, though it had remained silent as Samantha passed. Marie's room was indeed dark, only lit by the moonlight filtering in through the glass of the window. On Marie's nightstand an old locket caught Samantha's eye, briefly.

The trip to the master bedroom was uneventful, though a servant began to walk up the great, winding stairway. A creak emitted under his feet on the way up the stairs. He was carrying a silver tray of some manner of hor d'oeuvres, oddly, up the stairs. The master bedroom was also dark, and uninhabited. Mirrors adorned the antique furniture and someone had the tenacity to place a large mirror over the bed.

The locket was intruiging, perhaps from a memory, but she wasn't here to take anything. She'd briefly looked at it, opening it up to see if there was a picture inside, and then placed it back exactly as she had found it before she'd taken that journey to the master bedroom. Inside she looked at the many mirrors, but the one above the bed was the one that drew most of her attention. Its placement rather confused her.

The sound of the servant coming up the stairs gave her pause. She wasn't sure who it was, or why they were coming, so she stayed hidden. Invisible. And waited, listening for where the sounds of their footsteps would take them. Should they pass back down the stairs, Samantha would end the contract again, in order to have each mirror in the room reflect her face. And also touch the surface of each. Though she wouldn't be able to reach the one on the ceiling.

The locket had no picture inside, but there was an inscription: 'In tenebris, habito.' The surface on close inspection was roughed up and a bit rusted. Prying it open had been a bit of a chore. If she wanted, if she stood on the bed, she could reach the ceiling mirror.

The servant continued up the stairs, towards the servant's quarters. If she wanted, she would be quite safe in touching the mirrors.

There was no reason to touch that particular mirror to be honest. And standing on the bed might roughen it up, letting its future occupant guess something might be amiss. But she did so with all the others. And allowed her face to be reflected by each one; including the one on the ceiling; too. Then it was time to snoop around. This room, unlike Marie's one, was not subject to the law of privacy. Not as far as she was concerned.

To start with, she needed to be sure this room belonged to who she thought it did. It almost certainly did, but certainty mattered. So she looked for any signs of its occupant. And anything else of interest. Secrets and truly hidden things even, if such things might be found here.

The wardrobe held suit jackets carefully lined up in bags from a dry cleaner. Ties also hung neatly, the colors monotone. Nothing of real interest here, besides yet another mirror behind the clothes.

Her initial glance of the dresser revealed keys, cufflinks, and strong smelling cologne. The drawers when opened revealed clothes of a modern fashion, in styles Samantha has seen for men. All looked very expensive and high quality. The second dresser drawer had an odd hollow sound to it when she opened it, and seemed less deep as she ruffled lightly against the folded clothes.

Ah, *not* the room of whom she thought this would belong to. Not with clothes like that. She briefly touched the closet's mirror and looked into it, but her reflection didn't hide her disappointment. It was most likely the room of Marie's father. She would have to go through some of the other rooms instead; but first... the hollow sound was of interest. Now she was well and truly intrigued. It promised many great things. She looked around for an unobtrusive means of investigating it further.

With a simple bit of effort, from underneath one could tell the drawer had a false bottom. A little latch unclipped easily and the door hinged open revealing a manila envelope, and a knife.

Who could resist...

She would gently try to open the envelope, eyeing the knife for a few moments as she did. It was probably just there to open the envelope, but she was always on the look-out for a better knife of course. It was the contents of the envelope that were of most immediate interest, however.

The knife was a double bladed 6 inch dagger. A simple flick of the wrist retracted the blade into the handle or slid it out. As far as Samantha knew, this type of knife had some legalese to carrying it.

The envelope held black and white pictures of a man from a distance, appearing to be taken from above, all at different angles. He appeared to be in his late 30s, wore expensive looking suits, and glasses. Each picture showed him at a fine restaurant in Minuit. A few showed him shaking the hand of Samantha's father. Even less showed a woman with the man. On one of her a date was scribbled in red sharpie, 7/10/2016.
