She looked down at the wound, then moved her hand around as if to test it. Even though her expression didn't really change; she didn't even blink; there was still... something like gratitude in her features.

"Dat is a very useful trick," she said, finally looking back at Chantelle, "merci. Are dese de gifts of spring?"

Slightly unnerved by the unblinking visage, Chantelle nodded, musing on how Jack was so adorable and Sam so disturbing. “‘Ealing is a kin’ of growt, de Spring Man’le bring it fort li’ de bloomin’ flowas.” There was something unfamiliar about the egret’s accent and mannerisms. More than a regional variation, like someone who had spent a long time in a twisted and mocking fae version of Louisiana.

"It's a wonderful gift." Jack nodded. "Not something Winter offers."

As for Samantha's own accent, it was local. But it also had traits that marked it as being perhaps a fair bit, *older* than the modern variety.

"De Autumn's gifts are different too," she said, "De gift of healing would be very useful to de Autumn, though."

“Mais, we each ‘ave our gif’s. Dat’s why we wor’ togetha.” Chantelle gathered the shawl draped over her shoulders tighter around her body, Autumn was definitely here, and soon enough the air would have a bite in it. Insulating feathers helped, but her bare limbs were still exposed to the chill.

"Very true." he agreed. Jack's accent was subtle and barely detectable, washed away by the years. But, there was a hint, now and then, of a southern drawl.

“Tings go smooder whe’ we fin’ ways to complemen’ each oder, no’ figh’ each oder.” Chantelle looked at Jack, tenderness in her expression. He was Winter, sorrow, dormancy, when all the beautiful things spring brought about were cold and gone. She was Spring, the thaw that banished the chill and woke the sleepers. Yet, it never occurred to her to be at odds with the elf doll.

She could feel the magic Chantelle had woven for her slowly easing up some of her pains, though the worst remained. She nodded toward the other doll at his words, an offer of agreement even as she rubbed her arms absent-mindedly to focus on the fading pains.

(retcon with approval: Samantha did not take 2 lethal, chantelle's contract would have downgraded 3 lethal to bashing, and 1 agg to lethal leaving Samantha with 1Agg/1 lethal/3Bash? Also, sorry for the later reply on all this, been kind of sick)
