[D1-EE] Crawdad Boil [Social Thread]

[Mirachaya]

The Kings and Queens of the Freehold decided the best way to introduce all the attending Lost to each other was with a Cajun dinner party. How better to get so many differing views together in one place than over food. Pots of gumbo, jambalaya, rice, cornbread, and of course lots and lots of boiled and seasoned crawdads lined the front tables. Coolers of all manners of drinks sat right beside them. Guests are expected to form a somewhat neat line and help themselves buffet style.

[Eliza Stardust]

The winter changeling with red hair hadn't moved from her seat for a while. Food had been picked at, and was very cold by this point. She was nodding along to a conversation, mentally wishing someone would just freeze the whole room.

[Chantelle Rossette]

Chantelle, dressed in a summery floor-length floral dress despite the evening chill, moved elegantly amongst the throngs of Lost. Her mask smiled with sweetness and modesty, though her beak could not reflect such things. As the evening drew on, she sang for those willing to listen, her Cajun accent falling away as she picked up the lyrics.

[Samantha Hayne]

The tiny darkling mingled with all the presence of a bug. The way she moved about would; if noticed at all; fall squarely in the middle of the uncanny valley. But, as much value as there was to be had in staying unnoticed and letting others spill all their secrets, she shouldn't stay in the shadows forever. That wouldn't do among her 'own kind'. Not at all.

So she approached the first person who looked like they seemed... if not unoccupied, then at least not entirely invested in the present. That person turned out to be Eliza and her expression of wishing the whole place got frozen over.

"Ça va?" The question came from somewhere below her, as Samantha stood in front of the woman. "You look like you gone got hit by a cunja, or wishing it upon someone."

[Queen of Crows]

The Queen of Crows made her presence known with a look that said she had better things to do but she was here because she had to be and if she could be anywhere else she would be. She kept her shades on and popped in some earbuds as she sipped on some warm cider perhaps?

Standing just behind her was Mr. Numbers, he did not sit he only glared, quietly.

[Redmane]

Redmane was at the grill sure there was Cajun food but leave it to a black man of the South of a certain age to find himself at the large grill tending to that BBQ with his sweet sauce, homemade of course. He had a stained apron that read ‘Kiss the Chef’. He chuckled loudly and made sure that if someone wanted a plate they had all the BBQ they would ever need.

Those near him were entertained with a story from his war days, though he was never clear on just what war he was talking about. If there was any discomfort it was when he needed to move as the prosthetic was a bit stiff.

Otherwise he was all smiles, which seemed to annoy the Winter Queen even more.

TB was careful to get anything that wasn’t too spicy, she learned her lesson last year when Boney Louise introduced her to his famous hot wings made with some crazy Vietnamese hot sauce. She wasn’t terribly hungry but she did enjoy that everyone who wasn't an Ice cold snowy witch was having fun. She made sure to listen to Redmane’s stories, they were always entertaining even if he was a little loud.

She made it her role to play hostess as well, making sure people had anything they needed like plates, utensils, or a quiet spot to get away from the madness.

There was a slight turn from the winter changeling, and she looked towards the smaller girl with a look of...was it bordom? Who knew. The air around her was much colder than most other parts of the gathering, but the girl didn't seem bothered by it.

"Not accurate. I just don't find the current conversations very exciting. If you've approached me, I can assume you're feeling much the same. How can I help you?"

[Samantha Hayne]

Samantha might be new to a free life outside of Arcadia, but she knew the signs of a powerful Mantle if she saw one. Her own wasn't quite so powerful, but still stronger than one might expect from one so young. The occasional dead leaf trailed in her wake; and the occasional flickering of candle-lights, or pufts of black smoke. Signs of the Autumn court, to be sure.

"Not at all," she said, staring at the woman with her creepy unblinking eyes. "I'm learnin' all sort of things. And they gone and took good care on the roux."

[Gray]

Gray mostly stays slinking at the edges, plopping into empty seats and gobbling down crawdads at a rate that would suggest that they were about to go extinct. He starts to chew on a fish head, the bones poking past his lips as he looks around the table.
