[D5 EA] Stray (Stray’s Townhouse)

[Tiffani]

"I never said I was going anywhere - please don't misinterpret me. I'm just saying ... ya know?"

She just shrugs as if that simple motion explains everything.

"So ... anyone want to go shopping tomorrow?" She snickers a little at the dramatic change of subject, figuring if Chantelle wants it to end, she would end it. "In truth, it probably wouldn't be all that fun, especially for Marcus and Jack. Unless you guys like shopping for girls' clothes. Plus I have to start furnishing my room. I'm guessing you have the living area and kitchen more or less covered, Chantelle?"

She digs into the pockets of her jeans and pulls out a small wad of cash that she carefully counts then shoves it back - which takes her awhile. Yeah, the 1980s, the era of tight jeans.

"Uh, yeah, and until I go shopping I'll have to uh ... borrow a pen to sign the rental agreement." She giggles a little. "I feel like I'm back in high school again. I was always borrowing someone's pen."

[Jack Doyle]

"I could go." Jack shrugged. "There are parts of Minuit I haven't seen yet."

[Tiffani]

Tiffani looked at Jack with widened eyes - quiet Jack who seemed so distant sometimes. He was the last person she expected to want to go with her.

"Really?" She exclaimed, her excitement growing. "Alright ... yeah there are a lot of places around here I haven't seen, either. I'll try not to bore you half to death but ... I dunnae, maybe you can help me pick out some stuff. I need to get a laptop, maybe a computer desk, one of those office chairs and, yeah, a bed, of course."

"I won't be bored." he shook his head. "I made toys for decades, constantly, over and over. Ocassionally, there were new ones, but not often enough to break up the monotony. "

[Marcus Kendall]

"Not much there for me me to shop." the beast shrugged, lolling out his tongue for a moment before slurping it back into his mouth. "But it's good you go. Get your hands on being human again." Or, what was left of being human, at least. "You guys go, I'll sit here and keep the place warm."

Chantelle wondered who’d be footing the bill for all that, her own laptop was a five-year-old clunker her parents had bought her for college; she’d never been able to justify the expense of upgrading, not when her phone did just about everything. “Mais, I nee’ to move my own stuff in before I tink abou’ buyin’ new tings. Marcus, maybe you coul’ ‘elp me wit some of de ‘eavia boxes?” She’d probably start moving some things in later that afternoon, but the lion’s share would have to wait for tomorrow.

"You guys sure you don't want to go?" Tiffani asked Chantelle and Marcus. "Like I said, I'm not exactly a one-woman party, but I do promise not to spend hours looking at shoes. I'm not a shoe girl, anyway."

But she shrugged and smiled a little secretive smile. Tiffani did indeed discover a completely surprising and unexpected way to come into a considerable amount of money in a very short time - one that had nothing to do with getting an advance on her paycheck which amounted to only a few hundred dollars. Oh no, she had a lot more than that.

Except ... what if they think I opted for, like, prostitution or something? Oh dear, I never thought about that. "If you guys need anything - I mean really, anything, I'll be happy to help. Something I just happened to have turned out to be quite valuable as a collector's item, so I sold it to, well, a collector. For quite a bit of money. So don't worry, nothing elicit going on here."

"But everyone has been more kind to me than I had any right to expect, so I'd like to return the favor somehow. If you want more plants, Chantelle, consider it done. A new laptop, maybe? I can easily afford that. Marcus ... uh, I'm sure you want something, right? Jack?"

Tiffani's desire to return the charity and kindness - not to mention patience and tolerance - was practically oozing out of her pores. Chantelle, Marcus, and Jack all get the impression that if they don't name something, Tiffani is likely to buy something for them anyway so fervent is her need for reciprocity.

Chantelle narrowed her eyes suspiciously, a wary scent like ginger clouding around her, “collecta’s item, is it?” ProstItution wasn’t the egret’s first thought, more li’ drugs, she mused, figuring that would probably explain the mood swings, too. Tapping her spidery fingers against the box Jack had given her, “I jus’ don’ know abou’ tomorrow. Movin’ is exhaustin’.”

"Sure can." the beast bobbed his head. "Got nothing better to do, with the fish not being there." he waved his paw in the general direction of the sea. "Tomorrow? You need to actually pack first, right?"

"You guys sure you don't want to go?" Tiffani asked Chantelle and Marcus. "Like I said, I'm not exactly a one-woman party, but I do promise not to spend hours looking at shoes. I'm not a shoe girl, anyway."

"Yeah, I am good. Don't need anything." Marcus reassured Tiffani, frowning as she mentioned the sudden influx of cash. "How lucky." There was a hint of suspicion in the beast's tone. "Well, good for you." he sighed, figuring that if things were to go south, they would eventually go south. He could just watch and try to keep everyone safe, as he had sworn to do.

"Some groceries, maybe." Jack suggested. "We should probably pick up some general supplies for the house."
