[D2 LA] Deadlines & Commitments (Chantelle's Apartment)

"The taste will be the true test." he smiled. Carefully, he took the pie out and put it on a rack to cool. "But, waiting for it to cool will be the hardest one."

Chuckling in agreement, Chantelle set about making another batch of hot cocoa to accompany Jack’s pie. She placed the small saucepan on the stove, heating the milk. There was a microwave, it looked relatively new, but the egret didn’t like heating milk in it, it just didn’t taste right that way.

Jack watched, seeming to nod in approval. Once the pie had cooled, he cut out a slice, adding a scoop of ice cream on the side. He set it out for Chantelle, before preparing a slice for himself.

He licked a bit of filling off his fingers, before sitting down.

Chantelle placed the mugs on the small dining table and fetched back her chair. Finding a pair of splayds, Chantelle sat down with her pie, using the cutlery to break away bite-sized pieces that she could peck at with her beak. “Mais, T’Jack,” she cooed appreciatively, “dis is excellen’, fameux.”

"You are too kind, miss." He took a few bites himself. "They were fine apples."

Between bites, “do you ‘ave a phone?” Chantelle inquired of her new housemate.

He shook his head. "Crazy little things...."

The pie is delicious and brings warm waves of nostalgia of better days, first moment seeing a rainbow or a warm day with a friend just being carefree. The apple flavors blend well and bring a sense of joy to the senses however brief.

Chantelle was about say more, but she dissolved into silence, simply enjoying the pie. It was really good.

"Really good apples..." he said after another bite. "Where did you get them?"
