She led them to the bench she sometimes fed the birds from; though there didn't seem to be that many of them around right now. A few curious glances from the winged creatures, followed by being ignored as no bread seemed to be forthcoming.

"I prefer de real fear," she said, sitting down. "Dese tings, they are not real, oui? De fear, it is not de same. Dere's none of de deepest fright. And none of de lessons. Mais, dere is still some of de harvest to have."

"Well, I can't argue with you there; I just prefer to save that for those that truly deserve it." He sat down with a smile, as if the statement brought someone to mind. "Just utilizing what this world gives us and adding our own flair, well, makes them question if what had happened was real. Why I want to try bringing a haunted house or something down here this year."

"So, dis haunted house, is it all to be a lie? I know many a thing about de dead. Can tell where de ghosts are real, me. Many such places, if you want to build de haunting on top of de real ting."

"I think..." Jon gives a moment or two to consider. "...I think it's good to mix the two in. Give them a taste of what is fake and what is real. Make them question themselves and the reality around them. Let them taste what it is we deal with." He shakes his head with a laugh. "Let them see what's beyond their cozy little lives without breaking the rules..."

"Too right. Have to keep a careful balance between the two." Her accent was really thick. Took him a moment to grasp what she had said there. "You have any suggestions, then? Off the top, of course."

She seemed to consider the question for a moment. And another moment. And a third, before answering.

"Dere's a house got burned down a day or two ago. People got dead dere too, and I know dere's least one spirit dere. Mais, maybe not much of a haunted *house*. And people wouldn't much approve of it so soon after."

She considered the matter again for a bit, before changing tracks.

"Bound to be many places where dere was mortalité, and de souls might linger. Mais, de ways of knowing such tings... de library, it takes so long to search de past papers dere."

"Too true..." He says after taking a few extra moments to make sure he understood what she said. "Not too right to do right after someone died. Some of the old haunts around here might be work look. Thankfully, at least, I know someone who has some knowledge of the area on these mattersb so I can avoid spending a few hours in front of that computer or in front of some books."

His deer friend should be able to give him a bit more guidance. "Well, mind if I bother you if I get something? Seem to know what you're talking about when it comes to the spooks."

She nodded slowly, the motion once again solidifying her inhuman nature due to its doll-like nature.

"Oui, bien sûr."

Being content with hearing 'oui', he shakes his head on thanks. "Shouldn't be too hard, at least. Just got to give it some thought." He looks around and nods. "Feel free to finish off the coffee. I suppose I can always brew some at the shop." It was not the same flavor, but at least it was a percolator that didn't have all those fancy buttons and gadgets. Plus you could just use a outlet.

Amazing stuff.

"Be sure to swing by my shop if you need anything until then. Happy to pay off a favor with another favor."
