[D1, EA] How about a little music?

Lily was walking around downtown, her guitar strapped to her back. She had been at band practice earlier that day but they split up after lunch. She didn't want to go home to sit and think about the party she would go to later that night, so she took the long way home. After a bit of walking, stopping once to sign an autograph for one of her fans, she spotted a bench nearby and sat down, taking out her guitar and strumming a few tunes and humming along. She was on an Evanescence kick and was strumming along and humming their song "Hello" quietly. People stopped and stared here and there, one brave guy even came up to ask if she had a boyfriend. She ignored them all, continued playing and enjoying the freedom of her music. She ended the song and looked up to be met with another changelings eyes.

Such eyes *could*, in fact, be found in the vincinity. Unblinking eyes; deep-set in darkened sockets, on a cold porcelain-like face marred by stitches on and around the lips. A face carried on a head attached to a small body; which moved in ways more akin to those of a doll than a living and breathing thing. The occasional dead leaf fluttered in the air around her, as did brief flickers of what seemed like candle light.

Samantha did not know the woman. Or the song. Or even the style of music, for that matter. It seemed rather strange to her, which is why she had in fact elected to stop; only to see it was the work of a changeling. Perhaps that explained the strangeness; though perhaps it was simply the fact the sounds of the world now had more to offer than what it once did

She was not fully part of the crowd; standing a bit of distance away.

The crowd cheered as she stopped, pulling Lily's attention away for a moment. She smiled and bowed her head a little, then swung her guitar onto her back, signaling that the show was over. As the crowd started to disperse she looked again for the porcelain-like face.

She remained; watching. Normally, Samantha was not in the habit of interacting much with the other members of the freehold; but she'd gotten a push out of her comfort zone recently. And even if she wasn't one to have the kinds of conversations many other Lost might indulge in, she figured it couldn't quite hurt all that much to endure them in order to get more of an understanding of how things worked out here. Now that the normal folk was dispersing, Samantha approached.

She still wasn't blinking, and looked up at the woman with those disturbing eyes of hers.

"Bonjour," she said with a regional Cajun accent, "Ca viens? De song, it is what style of music?"

Lily smiled, glad she was just being asked about her music instead of being attacked immediately (she's heard rumors).
"The band who originally played it calls themselves gothic metal, but that was one of their slower songs. Did you like it"
She tilted her head to the side and smiled

"Dey are named for metal found in de churches?" It was an odd thing to name a band or genre of music after. But then, it had been an odd song; even without the benefit of whatever drums, synthesizes, and backing vocals the original studio-recording might've had.

"It is..." she struggled to come up with at term. "...interesting? Yes. Dat de word. Never hear such as that, me."

She tiled her own head to the side as well; mimicking Lily's gesture. There was no smile there, though.

"You new? Old? Never seen you before, but dere's many I haven't."

She covered up any discomfort she might have had to the doll like movements with a laugh
"Yeah, every band is trying to be weird and different now-a-days. Honestly I just think of them as metal with a female vocalist"
Lily leaned back against the bench, and stretched her arms above her head, looking rather relaxed
"And yeah, I've been around. I haven't really made too many connections to other lost yet, but I'm hoping to change that with the party that's supposed to be tonight."
Lily paused for a moment "You know about the party tonight right?"

She turned her head, looking around to see if anyone was close enough to listen in. Usually people paid others no mind, but when talk of strange things came, that could always change. Fortunately, it didn't seem as if anyone was paying any attention now that the guitar was gone and the performance over, so she turned back to Lily.

"...de passing into Autumn, it is."

To those who knew the significance, the signs of Samantha's mantle in the air around her would easily lead to the conclusion that she was aligned with the season. The season of fear. Perhaps not too hard a deduction to make otherwise either.

"Dey say dey got lots of chevrette to share, too."

Lily noticed the changeling infront of her looking around and glanced around herself. She was not quite used to having to keep things quiet, and anything she had said in the past could be brushed aside by a laugh and a wink. But she silently cursed herself for not paying better enough attention and lowered her voice automatically.
"I'm still fairly new to all this, you'll have to forgive me." She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees, keeping her voice lower than normal but not quite whispering. "Of course you would be at your own Court's party. Could you tell me, do you know what will go on there?" There is a hint of anxiety in Lily's tone as she tries, and fails, to not let her worry about the impending night show.

Samantha was new herself, relatively speaking. But old in some ways. It was confusing to separate the two, sometimes.

"It is a boil," she said, inscruteable expression. "Lotta chevrette if dey know what good for them. Shrimp, yes?"

Honestly, that was about all she knew herself; it was to be her first Autumn while free from the leash, after all. But she couldn't imagine things would be drastically different than the handful of parties she'd been to in the previous seasons.

"Maybe de king ask for your pledge to de court, if you haven't yet. Maybe you just go n'talk to de others. Lotta folk coming from de other holds too, maybe."
