The darkling had followed Lily into the store; but wasn't sure what Lily had purchased; perhaps some sage or thyme. Maybe the clerk hadn't bothered to stock the shelves with it yet, or maybe the shelves were just for showing off what could be bought, with the fresh products behind the counter.

In any case, it reminded Samantha that she could do with some cooking supplies herself. It wasn't as if there'd be free food every day, after all. Hmm, wouldn't hurt to pick some up at the moment. From the looks of it, Lily wasn't going to be doing any particularly interesting anyway. Grocery shopping was hardly the sort of thing Samantha needed to keep an eye on. Of course, now that she'd decided to let the other changeling go, and take care of her own groceries; she realized she didn't actually have any money to pay with...

...So she attempted to sneak behind the counter, since that was apparently where the good stuff was kept.

She'd rounder the corner, and saw the bag of sage. That would be a start. She reached for it...

"What the fuck!?" The clerk jumped from his chair. "The fuck you think you're doing!?"

Samantha hissed at him; frustrated that she'd been caught trying to shoplift just to get her hands on some sage for tomorrow's chicken & rice. Or was it thyme? She fled from the store, the angry clerk following her out for a bit, shouting at her;

"Yeah you fucking run, bitch! I catch you trying to steal my shit again I'll fucking--" he noticed there were a few passerby's looking at the sudden outburst, and tempered his words somewhat. "--I'll...I'll call the cops!"

Lily had left the store only a few moments earlier... so it was entirely likely that she caught the commotion; and could see the darkling run off toward an alley.

Lily heard shouting and spun around just in time to spot the darkling fleeing the store. Her throat caught and her heart rate sped up.
Oh my God she was following me
Lilly ran, she used her parkour skills to jump and climb and speed her way through her urban environment. She took 3, 4, 10 alleys that ended in wire fences she hopped over. She got home and slammed and locked the door. Her heart was racing and she quickly found herself pacing in her living room. She didn't know why someone would want to follow her, and this was exactly the reason she hadn't met many changeling since she'd been back. Humans she got, humans were easy, changeling were hard to read and suddenly you feared for your life after just talking to one on the street. She played over the conversation in her head over and over, trying to understand. Eventually she decided that staying home was a bad idea for her mental and physical health. She changed into some workout clothes and headed for a gym she knew was close by. All while being extremely aware of her surroundings.

Samantha, meanwhile, was trying to convince herself to get by without sage. And/or thyme. Damn it, she really wanted some for tomorrow's dinner now. She might have to plot a different approach; but that would have to come later; she was pretty close-by to a certain place, she realized. Swinging by there would not be pleasant, but well, necessary.

She pushed herself off the alley wall again and went on her way.
