"Eh." the beast muttered "I know how to feed on people, I know where I was. I know none of us wants to go back." he added bitterly. "Don't know much about spirits, really."

"Each of us had our own corner of de dark place," she said, "each our own niche. Dey used you for a different purpose den I, no doubt about it. No silver leash for a rougarou, for sure. Kept in the dark and silent, me. Before de leash came, and I went here, dere, and everywhere in between. Hunting de spirits for de one dat kept me."

"I hunted too." The beast grinned happily. "Chased and chased. Animals, goblins and... stuff." The happy smile disappeared from his face. "They thought it was fun." He added, growling. "But that is gone and gone."

"So who wants this pussy? You for yourself?"

The silence was awkward to be sure. Perhaps she was suspicious about the way he was trying to get a specific answer, rather than be satisfied with the general vague answer she'd given. Fortunately for the rougarou, she did eventually give that specific answer; provided he could deal with the silence that came before it.
