[D1 EA] This Heart Attack

“Mais, ‘ow long you been in Minuit?” she inquired, finishing her drink.

"A couple of weeks?" He paused to consider it. "Maybe a little longer."

Nodding, “woul’ you like another drin’, T’Jack?” Chantelle indicated to her empty glass, “I was jus’ tinkin’ I woul’ ge’ a refill.”

He looked at the glass, then nodded. "I would like that, thank you."

Chantelle rose gracefully, feathers rustling softly, and crossed back to the counter where she ordered two mugs of cider with cinnamon. Returning, the egret arranged herself in her seat, “dey gon’ to bring our drin’s ova in a momen’. Mais, ‘ow are you likin’ Minuit?”

"So far, it's nice. It feels comfortable." he answered. "Not as big and loud as other places."

The barista brought over their drinks, Chantelle had specifically requested a tall, narrow mug for herself, lifting it and dipping her beak into the warm, fragrant cider. Making herself comfortable, the egret slipped off the shoes she awkwardly wore on two of her toes. They were one-inch pumps in cherry red, she'd cut the toes off to let her claws through, and taken a section out of the back for her rear-pointing toe. "Mais, I'm glad you like it 'ere, I 'ope you decide to stay on awhile."

"Probably for a little while." He nodded after a sip of cider. "You like it here?"

Feeling more comfortable, Chantelle relaxed into her chair, long spidery fingers wrapped around the mug. "I've been 'ere a few years now," thinking back, it had been almost three years, "I like it 'ere, it someting of an 'ome fo' me."

"That's good. Important." he nodded. "Maybe you could show me around?"
