She noticed Gray from the corner of an eye; a vaguely familiar face she'd seen around before. And not just at last night's fais to do. For now though, she had a question laid out in front of her; one she wasn't inclined to answer in any detail.

"Many," she said with a nod. "Mais, none fit for de public ear. Too many a danger for dey who do not know how to tread lightly."

"Heh. Heh. Heh, Don' say I never warned ya." Gray takes another long sip of his drink."It's another plantation, just like them Delacourts that the other lady said...cep't, you won' find this one on any of your maps. No haunted sightseein' or lists. It ain't the kind a' place you're gonna find, it'll be what finds you." Gray meets the eye of the young woman, and makes a point to look into the eyes of the man dealing with Hayne.

(Invoking Tale of Baba Yaga against the gathered crowd. Hoping to Invoke the loophole by using the story that Samantha Hayne already used as a base. Individually Opposed vs. Composure+Wyrd: Tale of Baba Yaga: Manipulations+Subterfuge+Mantle vs. Composure+Wyrd: 6d10o10h8 4)

"Now mos' plantation owners liked to think of themselves as little lords but some of them...some of them had actually been once. For some of them, the New World was the last and only chance they would have. One such clan washed up on the nearby shores, their pasts chasing them every step of the way. They had once meant something, where they had been, and now what they meant was a stain that was too much to bear. Now, they found land that would not yield itself simply on their name. Broken, without hope, the cried out to the Devil himself, desperate to return to the life of luxury they had left from."

"The adversary was all to eager to help. He would protect and hide them from all transgressions, that they would be free to sin without fear of retribution, to plunder and rape and murder any and all they saw fit...but he demanded that they give to him the one thing they held most dear, the Name they had held to their breasts from the day they had left their homeland, but ahh, they had no choice, or so they said.

And so the Devil swallowed their lands from the eye of God, just out of sight of His creations...and yet, his Lords could walk free...and they did much more than walk."

Gray stops. "The first to complain were the other plantation owners. Their slaves were missin'. Of course, they had to be running somewhere...those horrors could make a man do damn near anything. What they didn't know was what greater terrors there could be. The first survivor was found, oh, six months after he had gone missing, but it seemed like he had aged a lifetime. He told a story of being taken on a moonless night, taken to a planatation that ran under a sky as black as sackcloth. These men and women had what little dignity they had left ripped from them once again, away from what families they had managed to keep. They would be worked under the endless night, their bodies breaking under the constant toil...but even breaking would not bring peace. For those whose bodies were strong, but minds weak, they were forced to swallow dirt and were covered in plaster, to be the columns of the home. Those who's minds fled to safety past the gate of madness found their heads forced into bridles, their tendons cut to make them better trudge the plodding steps of a beast of burden. And for those who could not even do that much...well, the soil 'round these parts is full of lye. You bury a man wrong...or right...." Gray breathes in deep. "They said that the wax on the skin would bubble was it was set alight, the torches to keep the fields lit to be worked."

Dead silence for a moment. A moment that crept to a minute.

"They hanged the slave of course. He was obviously lying. Had to be...it would be bad for business otherwise." Gray slurps the remainder of his drink. "Of course...he was the first. He wasn't the last."

Samantha probably recognized that Gray was manipulating the crowd; perhaps for reasons similar to what she'd been doing. Although he seemed to be quite a bit better at telling stories than she was. Maybe it was the accent. Maybe it was the story itself; something about it left her feeling a little cold on the inside. Could've been much colder still of course, had Gray wanted it to be.

Jason and Sarah seem somewhat taken by the story but even if they have some fear it only seems to give them more drive to investigate. Jason said, “Damn that was mad creepy, if we get even a tenth of that on screen this will be our best stream yet.”

Sarah added, “Oh this guy is precious, reminds me of like… what’s that movie… Cabin Woods thingy? The crazy country guy, right?”

Jason chuckled and said, “Yeah… I feel you there.”

Harvesting Glamor (Fear): Manipulation+Empathy: 6d10o10h8 1

I think that worked...if they are going to stick their noses THERE they deserve what happens

Gray looks around for a chance to make a mysterious getaway.

It was obvious what would happen with such emotions displayed in front of Autumn courtiers. Samantha picked out those members of the crowd who seemed especially shaken, and decided to add a little to their discomfort by seemingly staring right through them. The fear was not as tasty as that which had been built up over time, unfortunately. It was kind of like fast-food, rushed and forced; rather than well-done with all-natural ingredients. Nonetheless, it was still filling.

Noticing Gray look about as if looking to make an exit, she decided to pay closer attention to him. It occured to her she might want to talk to him for a bit, after all.

Craig had been heading through the quarter on his way but stopped by the bookstore to see how things were going. He noticed the small crowd and decided to walk up and see what was going on.

Craig saw Gray and gave him a nod, he also noticed the other Autumn courtier here but he wasnt overly familiar with her.

For now Craig kicked back and listened to the stories a small smile on his face. Stories of truth held power but these folktales were simply entertaining.

"Not half as scary as that time y'all were at the old mining shaft out in Peoria though, was it?" a voice called from a few people deep in the crowd.

"When that ash started to fall out of the ceiling on y'all, I just lost it," said a tall auburn-haired jock with a chiseled jawline, "Still can't believe y'all made it out there! Did anyone ever sue y'all for the collapse?"

Jason replied, “Man that was crazy and no… no lawsuits, it was intense, but we got some good views that week on the VOD for sure and the meme of me screaming like a girl was great.”

He glanced at Sarah who took a moment to direct her camera at Jason as he continued, “Hey soghosters, it’s me yah boy, Jason with your bad witch, Sarah on location! So we are here in Minuit with so many fans and locals who are giving us so much great stories and great southern food. But we can’t forget our mission here is to delve into the dark places, and see the darker parts of history we don’t hear about.”

“The old Plantations were party to one of the most shameful parts of American history, the slave trade; and that pain and misery has seeped into the bones of these places and as we just heard have spawned many a ghost story. Tomorrow night we will be live at one such location and seek out the ghosts of our dark past and see if we can shed light on their injustices.”

“As always,” he said gesturing to Sarah who turned the camera on herself and waved, “Sarah and I will be live and you can join us as we try to get #soghosted.”

Sarah replied, “Nailed it.”
