[Day 5 - LE] Honor your King (Event)
Apple Festival Masqeurade!
Allowed: All members of the Freehold
Contracts: Allowed
Time Slot: Late Evening
Description: The Apple Festival takes place in the French Quarter, the many bars and shops sell masks and the bars roll out their best ciders for a righteous pub crawl. The Lost can take this time to enjoy themselves with frightful costumes and play tricks on the locals or terrorize them with scares… or just skip all that and enjoy the pub crawl and get drunk!
Rules
Step 1 - Costume or Shed the Mask: The Lost should they wish to attend the festivities should find a costume they can make one themselves and anyone with Resources of 1 or greater can purchase the supplies or an outright costume that will be suitable for the Festival. An alternative is to shed your Mask as per the rules on page 108, this has many dangers but will grant the player 1 extra point to their Festival total at the end towards Autumn.
Those without Resources can simply get a simple plastic mask, this will imply a -1 penalty on Step 3.
Step 2 - Trick or Treat: The Lost can make one of three choices from the following: first they can enjoy the pub crawl and this is a Stamina + Socialize at -1 due to the quality and quantity of cider and good apple bears, doing so gains 1 Festival point towards Summer. Or they can attempt to play tricks on the locals this is a Wits + Subterfuge check with success gaining them a Festival Point towards Spring. Finally they can terrorize the locals with a Presence + Intimidation check with a +1 due to the season and success here grants them a Festival point towards Autumn.
Step 3 - My Liege, Hear my Tale: After the Lost has completed step 2, choosing one of the three choices they must then try and impress King Jason with their exploits. Make a Presence + Expression with a -2 as Jason is difficult to impress with their tale. Before you roll make sure to note if you are supporting Autumn, Spring, Winter, or Summer, if successful gain a Festival point towards the season you champion. If you decide to support Winter convert your point from Step 2 into a Winter Festival point and success here grants another Winter point.
Results: If you earn 2 or more Festival points for your chosen Court gain one rank of Goodwill towards that court, if that is a court you are a part of you will gain a rank 1 Token instead, or increase a token by 1.

Re: [Day 5 - LE] Honor your King (Event)
It had been a long, long time since Chantelle had gone trick-or-treating and, as a good kid, it had always been treats. Tricking or downright scaring others wasn’t her forte, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to give it the old college try. Finding a costume at the last minute was easier than expected, perhaps because the was shopping in the “scary” section, not the “hee hee, overtly sexualised” section, ultimately settling for voodou priestess, adorned with bones and crows feathers, her face painted like a crow’s skull, a dash of Glamour letting just a hint of her mien show through.
Setting out to frighten the locals, she shook her staff, though the rattling of bones lost some of its effect due to them being plastic. But she had a pouch of black glitter, which she threw at the most superstitious looking targets, muttering and chanting about the gree gree and cunja, making them duck their heads and scurry into the night to the sound of her cackling.
When it was her turn to entertain the King, she rattled her staff and clacked her beak, putting her vocal talents to good use to tell of the curses she’d lovingly bestowed, and their terror as they clutched their prayer beads and false talismans. By the end of it, the stoic Autumn King seemed to approve, and the egret curtsied deeply and made way for the next petitioner.

Marcus the changeling was scary as fuck. Now, problem was that his mien was all too real to pass as a costume. So, Marcus the human donned a cheap mask that he got for cheap. The changelings that saw had to think he looked ridiculous. A wolf-man wearing a wolf mask. Even his feathered tail kept it low, almost as if it was ashamed.
Yet, either the people were drunk, or Marcus was good what he did, but he did manage to spook few kids and his work buddy, Bobby, whom threw a red plastic cup filled with apple cider at him. The beast reviled in the fear he caused, hearing the shrill cries of the children, the upset on the faces of the adults.
When it was his turn to entertain the King, Marcus boasted with his deeds, his tongue lolling out as he laughed and laughed, sounding like a hyena chocking on a carcass. The King, however, only seemed mildly amused.

Re: [Day 5 - LE] Honor your King (Event)
Without any resources to speak of - thus far she has been relying on Chantelle for food and lodging - Tiffani decided to simply drop her Mask. Oh, certainly she knew there would be a slight danger in doing so. Truth was, however, she was tossed out of Arcadia by her Keeper because she began asking too many questions - or so she figured. Thus it was highly unlikely there were Huntsmen after her or that her Keeper even wanted her back. There was only a small danger of her Keeper wanting Tiffani back only a couple of days after evicting her. It was possible - but highly unlikely. And she wasn't about to ask Chantelle for money in order to do something so ... trivial? Besides, this is just the type of thing she hoped would impress the king.
Feeling a little like Superman looking for a phone booth, she ducked into an alley and, behind a trash dumpster, allowed her Mask to dissipate, the illusion shattering in a burst of dozens of snow-white doves that take wing and disappear against the darkening sky. She shook both of her shoulders as if slipping into a new coat, sighed heavily, and walked out into the crowd.
Shedding Mask: +1 festival point toward Autumn
Glamour Spent: 1 for dropping Mask
Tiffani didn't have to do much to inspire terror in those that saw her. Well ... at least for some people. As she walked down the sidewalk, the crowd split apart like Moses parting the Red Sea. No one wanted to touch her or be the unlucky soul who jostled her in any way. Those too drunk or too self-involved to notice her approach would suddenly look up, see her otherwordly beauty and regal bearing, and apologize profusely to the point of nearly begging for her forgiveness.
Children stared up at her in awe - many pointing and exclaiming, "Mommy look, a real elf!" It was just too real to be a mere costume. It wasn't just her extraordinary allure. It was the way she carried herself, the terror rolling off her in waves as she dropped all pretense of kindness, her empathy turned to a darker purpose. A few brave souls even tried to offer her gifts - one man took off his Rolex and held it out to her, and she was even tempted to take it, broke as she was, but no ... she would do no lasting harm to these people. Allowing them to see her in her full magical splendor was enough. And though it may have been 70 degrees, those near to her felt the temperature drop, a horrible chill in the air reminiscent of a bitter late autumn cold spike. Dried leaves of every natural hue rustled and whirled about her countenance - a magic that could not be part of a costume. She did her best to embody terror, fear, and paralytic fright even to the point where some were to scared to move even if they were directly in her path. She merely walked around them ... and she found herself enjoying it.
Never before had she reveled in her magical nature. Now that she had, Tiffani was loathe to reinstate her Mask - to return to the pretty yet humble young girl her Mask presented to others. The feeling was almost ... ecstatic, like shedding bulky winter clothes for the warmth of spring. But this was dangerous. Really dangerous. Not because she was afraid of Huntsmen, but because she was having an undo affect on these innocent people.
Terrorizing: Presence +4, Intimidation +1, +3 Mantle bonus to inspire terror, +2 Striking Looks 10d10o10h8: 6
Terrorizing the locals: +1 festival point
But Tiffani wasn't done. Oh no. Not by a longshot. Perhaps dropping her Mask clouded her judgment or, perhaps, it was something she just wanted to do. As she stood in front of the wall-sized mirror in the restroom, she told herself and the air itself her darkest fears of loneliness and rejection and her desires of personal success in her scientific endeavors as well as forming new friendships, she invoked the Master Mind's Gambit - she was bound and determined to impress the King of Autumn.
Thus, after waiting in line to petition the king - a line that "mysteriously" thinned out when she joined the queue - she stood before the King of Autumn and gave him a little curtsey. In fact, when she straightened, Tiffani actually winked at him in a playful (flirtatious?) manner. In all of her terrible glory, a beauty that was colder than the windswept wastes of the arctic, she told him of how an entire gang of youths hanging out near an alley getting drunk were so frightened of her that two of them wet themselves, all of them dropped their beers on the ground, and three of them actually climbed the nearest fire escape - two of them hanging from the metal bars like a couple of monkeys in their effort to get away. And she laughed, truly laughed at remembering the scene.
But when she walked away, despite having a rather enjoyable time with the king just a day before, she really couldn't tell how he felt about her story. Hmm, she just didn't know for certain. Even with her empathy it was hard to judge as she mostly received the celebratory feelings of drunkenness all around her. I hope I didn't take things too far with that wink ...
Impressing the King for the Autumn Court: Presence +4, Expression +2, Contract +5, Stoicism -2 7d10o10h8: 3
So ... Tiffani slinked away, looking back at the king over her shoulder, wondering what important decision she was supposed to make and whether she would make some sort of pledge to the Autumn Court later. For right now, though, she found a little used side street, ducked behind a pallet of crates, and reinstated her Mask. Otherwise, no one would have anything to do with her except, maybe, other Changelings.
Glamour Spent: 1 for dropping the mask, 1 for reinstating the mask early, 2 for the Mastermind's Gambit contract for a grand total of 4 Glamour
Result: 3 festival points
Received: One rank 1 Token

Re: [Day 5 - LE] Honor your King (Event)
"How much are they charging for a costume?" Gray's jaw drops at sticker shock. Yeah, I have a bit more cash in my pocket after some of those college tests, but I'm living on the floor of a gym. Gray resets his jaw and nods to himself.
"I'll just go as myself." Yes, there were risks to dropping the Mask...but right now, he would be hiding in plain sight. Any with everyone around, if a Huntman showed up...well, there would be hunting to be had.
(OOC: One Glamour spent, Mask down)
Gray tries to be in a discreet spot as he channels a bit of Glamour, it pulsing over his skin. The form of a man flakes off like a pile of leaves in a windstorm, revealing a furry beast with too many teeth, like he had just shown to a certain something the other day.
When people take a look at him, they seem...disconcerted. Something is a bit too good about the costume for an anthropomorphic cat, so Gray decides to play if off. He heads over to where a local school mascot is hanging out, and an idea occurs to him. He pulls off backup sportcoat like the other mascot and goes as a discount version, doing his best to pop in and out of events where the mascot is to make people think they are going crazy.
Trick or Treat (Spring): Wits+Subterfuge: 4d10o10h8 2
As he makes his way through, Whitt is ready for a story. Gray clears his throat, only for it to catch.
Silence...well, I can work with that. I had told him what I was planning, and I think he'll get the message.
Gray simply puts a finger to his lips and bows, stepping to the side.
My Liege, Hear my Tale-Presence+Expression (negative score, Chance Die): 1d10o10h10 0
[OOC: 2 points, coverted to Winter. Winter Goodwill earned]

Craig got all dressed up in a Blade costume getting a hold of a black trenchcoat, buying a real sword, and an authentic vest in style of the movie. He looked every inch the vampire hunter, which held some amount of irony or authenticity to the cosplay considering the events of the past couple of days.
Craig wasnt much for trick or treating and scaring people held very little appeal to the ogre. But a pub crawl? That was right up his alley. The big man went from bar to bar, making friends and drinking his fair share of booze. In fact it seemed like he might've had a bit more than his share, try as he might the big man definitely goes over the edge finding himself in an alley behind one of the bars losing most of what he had drank up until that point. The lack of his presence was certainly noted.
Craig eventually found his way back and while he failed at keeping his alcohol down he never the less impressed the Autumn King with tales of his exploits that night perhaps his dramatics more than a little aided by the amount of alcohol he consumed earlier.

Re: [Day 5 - LE] Honor your King (Event)
Putting the costume together was easy enough. Jack tried to be somewhat self-referential, without being too direct. He vaguely remembered the tale of the puppet Pinocchio. The book had not been among his favorites, but it certainly came to mind given his current state. Unfortunately, many had difficulty recognizing his interpretation, as it had little in common with the animated film.
He did recall that Pinocchio was a mischievous scamp and a rascal. In the spirit of the season, the Wizened willing to indulge in those characteristics, as he played tricks on those who would not offer him treats. It was rare for Jack to enjoy being thought of as a boy. He had to admit to having some fun indulging in his childishness, but it was difficult for him to express. Telling the tale to the king, became an odd mixture of random anecdotes and self-realizations that few others could identify with

She was so hungry. Every since making that deal with the little girl who wasn't a little girl in the orchard, Mina couldn't stop thinking about food...
So hungry. She had eaten everything in her cupboards, then gone downstairs and eaten too much at the bar.
Remembering the Masquerade tonight, she picked up a mask downtown, and went off drinking to try and forget everything! She was happy to go on a pub crawl, but by the time she made it back to the masquerade, she was ready to sleep. She past out at one of the tables, and never did get around to telling the Autumn King of her exploits anyway.

Lily wandered around the pub crawl. She had been drinking since earlier that day and her attempts to continue just caused her to get sick. She spent most of the festival throwing up around which ever corner she was near at the time. She had somehow kept hold of her mask durning all of her stomach's episodes, and wore the black sparkly mask proudly around as she had bought it earlier that day.
Lily made her way to where some other lost had gathered and made sure to pay the Autumn King a visit. She had clean herself up a bit and with a slightly tipsy giggle she flirted with Jason, telling him a raunchy joke and giving him a few teasing smiles and winks. He seemed to enjoy her company, which gave her a sense of satisfaction. When the conversation seemed to slow enough she excused herself to join the rest of the lost around her in the celebration.
