Gray slides into the dream, tasting a sudden rush of colors as the drifting thoughts of superheros in battle swim past him. He has to get deeper, deeper than the surface memories that are at the edge of dreaming. He needs to find the reason for the man's interest in Dily and the others, and if he's the pawn for something else, much, much worse.

The dreamscape is a small kitchen in some urban center and he sees Mr. Patel as perhaps a younger version of himself eating cereal and looking at a comic. An old balding man with features that seem non distinct reads a paper while a woman with more nuanced features prepares breakfast.

It sounds like the older man is talking but the words are just nonsense but harsh in tone, but you get the sense he is angry at the paper, and whatever Patel is reading, and just everything.

"Wow, he seems really angry." Gray whispers to the young boy, trying to get to show more of what might be an apparent trauma and help shape the dream. "What is he so mad about?"

The words wash over the kid and the old man continues talking but his mother dressed in a rather dashing 1950’s era yellow dress, which seems outdated even in this memory, spoke in reply, “Oh my… oh dear… I don’t recall my dear son inviting any friends over for breakfast.”

Little Patel looks at Gray and said, “Don’t get me in trouble!”

She turned and said, “Will you be joining us for breakfast then?”

"Well, Patel could use a scoundrel for a friend. He's such a good boy already, isn't that right?" Gray playfully pats the young Patel on the back. He starts to looks around, trying to pierce anything interesting in the dream that he can use.
