His molten eyes bore into her chocolate ones for a moment "but even here things can feel lonely. Sometimes." There was a heat, besides just the literal one, that burned through his gaze into chantelle. He was clearly a man of great passion along with other burning emotions, anger, wrath, passion, lust all these emotions burned, all were of the summer.

Intrigued, Chantelle took his large hand in her own, or as best she could approximate it, feathers rustling softly as she brought her other hand to caress the cracked edifice of his knuckles. “An’ wha’ do you do, whe’ you’ no’ rescuin’ damsels li’ me?”

That brought a chuckle from the giant man, a deep rumbling that reverberates through his body, slight vibrations could be felt in the hand Chantelle held "Well I cant say I do too much rescuin especially these days, hasn't been much need for it."

He sighed a little as his smooth stone finger slid over the feathered hand that held it. "Nahh most of what I do is protecting now, I bounce at a local night club for money and protect those of us in town when they need it. I coach wrestling at the local high school and teach people how to fight at my gym downtown." He paused focusing for a moment on the feeling of her soft feathers under his hard fingers.

"I suppose all I know is violence, I just try and use it for the best I can these days."

Chantelle's feathers were divinely soft, impeccably groomed, and she slid a fingertip over the glassy obsidian, exploring the razor edges where the stone had broken apart to reveal the heat within. "Oh, you bounce fo' de Spring cour'ier?" the egret recalled that the odd-eyed lass owned a bar, but the name of it escaped her. "You do su' goo' tings, de Free'old is lucky to 'ave you."

He smiled a bit "Well look who is flattering now?" He said with a raised eyebrow. "What about you Chantelle, what do you do when you arent stealing hearts with that golden voice?"

Chuckling, “mmm, bu’ I ge’ paid to flatta you, at leas’ I know you genuine.” Chantelle winked teasingly and indicated to their surroundings. “Dis is my day, or shoul’ I say nigh’ job? It no’ much, bu’ Gabe ta’ care of me.” Her boss was, however, a mortal, there would be things he couldn’t understand.

"I doubt I'm the most fruitful customer you could be tempting to spend too much money on alcohol." He said with a grin "I doubt your boss would miss me and my two beers all that much. I was singin’ as soon as I could tawk, and Gabe ‘ere ‘ad a job fo’ a singa.” She was putting a brave face on it, but her chocolate eyes were troubled as she thought about how that led to her durance, about how she’d returned to her old life and tried to fit back into that round hole now that she was a square peg.

Craig nodded "Ahh I see," his thumb dragged across the back of her palm not enough to hurt, but enough to separate the feathers, enough for the sharpness to be felt on her skin not intending to hurt but rather to bring her back from troubling thoughts.

He paused a little "So are you looking forward to the festivities? This will be your first fallen fair if I'm not wrong?"

She shivered a little, her attention drawn to the pleasant sensation of the claw on her skin. Chantelle murmured in agreement, “it is, I’m no’ really sure I fully undastan’ everyting dat’s goin’ on. De Wyrd is cagey as a chat, is dat normal ‘round dis time?”
