Cafe Du Monde (D1, EM)
Cafe Du Monde (D1, EM)
It was one of the few things she admitted to like in this place - the coffee. The smell was... warm, inviting, like the trace of a memory. She recalled it from an earlier part in her life.
Dily usually stopped by the same coffee shop. Not every day but close enough to it. She liked the chicory coffee and would nurse it for a good while as she did her people-watching - morning hours always had many people for coffee.

Craig had just finished his morning work out and was likewise headed to the cafe for some coffee. The mountain of muscle ducked his head under the door frame as he entered. He was clad in a simple tight whight shirt, athletic shorts and sneakers.
He grabbed his cup and turned around seeing the familiar wintery face people watching. Craig approached her table his deep voice rumble a little "Dily, shouldn't be surprised to see you here. You do come here most mornings dont you?"

The Mask gave an awkward smile in greeting that wasn't quite reflected on the Mien underneath. "Yes," she said simply at first, the coffee between her hands seeming to cool slightly.
And even at this time of year with this weather, she wore fur, a trim on her denim jacket. She never went without fur of some kind. "Watching the people. And the coffee is good. You like the coffee here too, Walker?"

Craig's mask and mein were almost always in synch with little difference in expression, so when the mask smiled openly revealing pearly white teeth that stood in stark contrast to his dark skin, so too did the black obsidian mask reveal a substantial glowing orange gash. "Coffee does what it needs to well enough, working late and working out early doesn't leave a lot of time for sleep." He said with a chuckle.
The giant placed a hand on the back of a chair "mind if I join you?"

"Not at all. Join me," she gestured for him to join her at the table. If she was concerned about the furniture withstanding his mighty frame, she did not show it. But there was a lot Dily didn't show.
"I hear interesting things. Those from Baton Rouge will not be coming, some say. I am curious why..."

And the chair certainly did protest the burden it had been forced to bear, however it held Craig dutifully. As for Dily's question Craig shrugged a bit "Its a bit strange yeah but nothing to really done about it unless we learn more about why they arent coming. I'm not one for politics or investigations but if it's something the threatens Minuit you know I'll be the first one to the front lines of the conflict."

"Yes." She nodded, knowing where his priorities were. "I will seek to understand more, if it is a coming danger to us. Or a danger faraway that might later come. After today, as autumn takes full hold, the portents might be easier to see."
Lifting her cup, she took a sip of the cooling beverage. "Many will come for the feast, so we must be alert."

Craig sighed as he took a large gulp of the still steaming beverage, certainly still hot enough to burn most people but the summer knight was obviously unfazed by it. "Yeah, I get why we do this but it's always a bit nervous having so many new faces about. Never know when someone is going to be a loyalist."

"Neither of us are the social kind," she remarked, in an almost humorous tone. The giant warrior of fire and brimstone, and the frigid one. "Loyalist? To the others? Or to their courts?"

"Its not necessarily the social aspect of it all that I mind, new faces means new potiential threats, new unknowns." His eyes darkened a bit, faint trails of acrid black smoke emanating from them "yes loyalists to the others. They are out there and they are nothing but trouble."
