After the upset with the fire, and anticipating a long day, Chantelle retired to a nearby cafe. She ordered iced tea and found herself a seat, legs primly crossed at the ankle. The Fairest was dressed in a sundress patterned with flowers, and a delicate scent like new blooms surrounded her like perfume, she was impeccably groomed, wearing her composure and grace like armour. Her perfectly painted nails picked idly at a cookie that she thought she wanted, but now wasn't entirely sure.

Jack entered the cafe and approached the counter.
"A hot cider please, with extra cinnamon ."
"That much? How about without the cinnamon?"
"Thst's fine. Just a moment..."
The boy fumbled through his clothing, picking out a coin here, another one there, a few more, and finely a couple of bills.
"Do you have one vhf of those take a penny dishes? I'm so sorry. Thank you."
Drink finally in hand, he looked around for a place to sit.

Chantelle raised a brow, her mask had perfectly arched blonde eyebrows, her makeup on point. The wooden boy seemed distressed, she couldn't blame him after the fire. Raising a slender hand, she made a demure gesture to get the changeling's attention, indicating to the empty seat opposite her.

Looking up at her, he nodded. Jack set his cider on the table and climbed into his chair.
"Thank you." He said with a grateful smile. "I'm Jack."

Smiling sweetly, "you welcome, T'Jack, my name's Chantelle." She studied the petite doll with kindly eyes, sipping her iced tea through a straw, it was a convenient cover for her mien, though mortals were exceptionally good at glazing over things they saw that didn't make sense. "You made a fine pumpkin today, you cleva cleva wit making dings, I wager."

Chantelle tilted her bird head to one side, "you don' enjoy it any more? Dat would be a shame." Her feathers rustled softly as she reached for a piece of cookie, placing it carefully in her beak.

He shook his head. "I meant this morning. The fire wasn't a pleasant experience."

"It would be tragic." he agreed. "Did you have fun? Before the fire?"
