"I think de cat would get a big fright from you, but mayhap dere is kinship between dey of de beast, and dey who are true beasts, non? Your help would not go unwanted."

She started walking again, presumably with the expectation that he'd follow. "Do you know a... madame LeRoux? It is where de cat might be found, it has been said to me."

"Dunno. I'm pretty quick. And if you want, I can leave the catching for you." Marcus muttered, shrugging his large shoulders. "Got nothing better to do with the boat on dry dock." Several fishing ships sailed from Minuit - many of which had already retired for the winter.

As Samantha began walking, Marcus tagged along. "Can't say I'd know her. I got here few months ago. Don't really know many people." After a moment of silence, he added. "So why is this cat so important?"

"It is an anchor," she said, "One dat ties a spirit to dis world."

[Marcus Kendall]

"Oh really?" he glanced around, trying to see if he could spy this supernatural pussy. Alas, none were to be found. "That's one wonky cat. So why you want it?"

[Samantha Hayne]

She stared at him; as she tended to do with people; the lack of blinking a little offputting as she silence lingered.

"Because it ties a spirit to dis world?" she asked, reframing the earlier statement into a question.

"Right." the beast nodded, lolling his tongue out. "And?" he asked, even as his tail squinted its 'eyes' close, moving to hide behind the beasts legs.

[Samantha Hayne]

"Is it it not obvious? What would one do with an anchor, if not lower or raise it? And dis one has gone as low as it can go."

He was far more animated than she could ever be; she was ever as the doll she appeared, lacking in many of the motions that were common to living things.

"Some of de dead, dey must pass on."

"Dunno." the beast shrugged. "Eat it?" he offered, sounding serious. "That'd keep it in place." His voice had a certain tone of mirth and hunger mixed together. "You here for your boss, or someone else?"

Even though her expression did not change, it seemed as if there was a subtle shift in her demeanor toward judgemental when he suggested eating the cat; which didn't seem to vanish upon hearing his question.

"I am here for de spirits. And you? Dis is not de place for a rougarou to hunt, non?"

"I hunt elsewhere." the beast shrugged again, grinning. His slavering mouth was all too wide for anyone's comfort. "Here for the party. Meeting people. Trying to figure out exactly what I have become." Marcus extended his arm and flexed his claws. "It's all pretty new to me."
