She was pretty sure this was a scam, but it wouldn't hurt to hear him out.

"De shoe is not for sale," she said, moving forward to inspect the pen. Assuming she did not notice any trickery, she would pick it up, stow it away, and set the glass jar with the heart down in its place.

She reached into her backpack and pulled out the glass jar with the heart, holding it up so that he could see it.

"Dis, for de pen. A fair trade."

She cocked her head slightly at the creature.

"It is a ting you could eat," she said, "if you wanted to. De broken heart of a child. De king asks only a minor ting in return. An ink pen? You know what it is I speak of, of course?"

She looked toward the others for a moment and gave them a nod, before she went to follow the goblin.

"I am Samantha Hayne, I serve de king of Autumn, who has sent me to retrieve de item he has arranged a trade for," she said to the blue skinned goblin.

As soon as the opportunity presented itself, Samantha would disembark, and address those who had come to gawk at the Lost.

"I seek de one who leads dis settlement," she said. "A trade's been arranged."
